HOW TO ORDER
All of our furniture is handcrafted in Wisconsin. We do not mass produce anything. Our furniture is made to order with time-tested technique, joinery and craftsmanship. If you see something you like but need it in a different size or configuration, we can customize it for you.
Take a look below to see what we offer. Whether you see what you want, want something different, or you’re just not sure, use our PROJECT INQUIRY FORM and we will be in touch to go over the details and assist you with your questions.
Just fill it out as best as you can and of course there is no obligation to order. Be sure to refer to our SELECTIONS page and choices below to help choose. Otherwise just drop us an email at email@example.com
When you’re ready to order, we’ll walk through our easy order process
There’s just a few things to decide as you plan your new table.
Select Your Table Type
Let’s start with the easy question, what type of table do you need? Are you looking for a coffee table, console table, side table, something for the kitchen or dining room, or just something to throw you keys on or maybe a plant or vase near the door?
Standard sizes (measuring the top) for our tables are:
Kitchen/dining (36w 36d** 29h)
Coffee (48w 20d 17h)
Console (48w 14d 29h)
Side (24w 20d 17/22h*)
Accent (14w 14d 29h)
*Note that our side tables make great nightstands and come in 2 heights (17 or 22 inches). The 17 inch works well with lower furniture such as a platform bed or perhaps a sofa with low or no armrests. For a frame of reference, we make our coffee tables 17 inches high too, which is a pretty typical height for a coffee table. But just ask if you need a custom height or size.
**Our standard kitchen/dining table is 36 inch square, but we can make it longer too (for an additional charge). Just let us know what you’re looking for.
Finished table heights will be slightly higher because we typically add adjustable glides to the bottom of each leg like this one. This helps protect the very bottom edges and corners of the legs as well as giving you the ability to compensate for an uneven floor or if some legs are on a rug and some are not.
Select Your Finish Color
Our bamboo comes either natural or caramelized and finishes beautifully with a clear finish.
Our favorite look is the caramelized bamboo with no stain, just a clear finish. We carry caramelized in stock. Natural may require additional lead time, usually 1-2 weeks.
For an additional charge, we are also able to stain your table if you prefer a different color. Our current color samples (all with clear finish) are shown. All are very low or no VOC content.
Other colors may be available including other traditional “woods” as well as color-toned stains (red, blue, green etc). Prices include clear finish.
Choose 1-ply or 3-ply (Edge or Flat Grain)
Both options are 100% bamboo. The difference is in the way they laminate the bamboo together.
1-ply results in a solid vertical edge grain pattern throughout the entire thickness.
The 3-ply results in either an edge or flat grain pattern on the surface and vertical edge grain interior. It can be confusing so check out the pictures above. Note the table edge pattern varies depending on which side of the table you’re viewing, and may be doubled up for a thicker table edge.
Also check out how table legs can look using 1-ply versus 3-ply. You can even mix and match.
Our favorite is all 1-ply caramelized. We prefer the simpler look of the 1-ply edge to the 3-ply edge, but a lot of people prefer the unique look of the 3-ply.
Some prefer the more traditional look of having an overhang, others like the more modern look of no overhang with an accent groove between the table top and base.
Select Your Table Top
Choose a solid top or our signature “marble top” design.
You can’t go wrong with a solid bamboo top. but if you’re looking for something really unique check out our “Marble Top Table Top.” Instead of a solid table top we create a mitered table top frame, add an internal shelf to hold marbles (or we leave it empty for you to fill with whatever you like). We top it with standard 1/2 inch thick glass because we like the look. You can use thinner if you want. Because glass is costly to pack and ship, we generally do no ship it and recommend you buy it locally. We can provide it for local delivery or pickup.
If you need a custom size or want to order a longer kitchen/dining table (more than 36 inches), just let us know and we will calculate the additional glass and marble costs.
We offer a variety of marble options to fill it. Choose one color or mix and match.
Because Urban Table Works builds our tables and other furniture to order, we typically require 6-8 weeks to complete and ship your order, but will give you our best estimate at the time of order. If we can do it sooner we will, but we never want to rush a job and we never want to make a promise we cannot keep.
We are confident that our tables are worth the wait and if for some reason you are not completely satisfied, we’ll do our best to make it right. Shipping and packing costs will be estimated prior to final order confirmation. Smaller tables that can be will be shipped via ground UPS, FedEX or USPS. For larger tables, local pickup is available with advance scheduling.
We also offer local delivery and setup for larger items that cannot be shipped for an additional charge (varies based on distance and order). Our delivery area is not a hard line, rather it is within a couple hours of our shop. We’ll definitely let you know if it’s an option for you at the time of order or just ask and we’ll be happy to check.
We require a 50 percent deposit on standard orders, and 75 percent deposit on custom orders. The remaining balance is due prior to shipment/taking delivery at which time final shipping or freight will be set. For payments, we accept PayPal.
